The Edo State Police Command has arrested a member of the Odu’a People’s Congress (OPC), Christian Okagbare, 31, over an alleged attempted murder in Iyanomo community, Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area of Edo State.
The Commissioner of Police in Edo, Nemi Edwin-Iwo, confirmed that Okagbare was involved in an incident where two residents, Osaigbovo Charles and Iyare Stanley, were shot without provocation. The victims, who are from the Iyanomo community near the Rubber Research Institute in Benin City, reported the attack to the police with severe injuries.
According to Edwin-Iwo, the victims were immediately rushed to a hospital where they received treatment and were later discharged.
Following the report, the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the command launched an investigation that led to the arrest of Christian Okagbare. The suspect confessed to the crime and guided the police to the location where he had buried the firearm used in the attack.
The Edo State Police Command continues to investigate the incident, ensuring that all those involved are brought to justice
