IPOB Accuses Governor Mbah of Secret Land Deal for Fulani Settlement

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has accused Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State of attempting to allocate communal lands in the Eha-Amufu community, Isi Uzo Local Government Area, for Fulani settlement.

In a statement issued on Saturday, IPOB’s Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, alleged that Governor Mbah paid N30 billion to some community leaders in Eha-Amufu to persuade them to release their ancestral land. The statement further claimed that after the community leaders rejected the offer, the state government collaborated with security forces to facilitate Fulani infiltration into the area.

“Governor Peter Mbah and the Fulani Emirates have reached an agreement to hand over the ancestral lands of Eha-Amufu to Fulani settlers,” Powerful stated. “When the people resisted, the governor, in connivance with the Nigerian military, encouraged the Fulani to invade the community.”

IPOB also alleged that the community has faced continuous attacks, including cases of women being assaulted, farmers being killed, and farm produce being illegally harvested. The statement further claimed that some displaced residents had their homes occupied by Fulani settlers while security forces remained silent on the issue.

The group warned Governor Mbah against actions that could compromise the security and interests of the Igbo people. “IPOB will not allow selfish politicians to mortgage the future of the Igbo people in exchange for political benefits,” Powerful declared.

IPOB reiterated its opposition to any form of Fulani settlement in the South-East and vowed that the Eastern Security Network (ESN) would continue its efforts to expel Fulani groups from the region.

As of now, the Enugu State government has not issued a response to these allegations.
