Bokkos, Plateau State: In a tragic turn of events, gunmen launched a brazen attack in the Mai Katato community of Bokkos Local Government Area in Plateau State, resulting in the death of a middle-aged man, Sule Gwamnati, and the abduction of his wife, Blessing. The incident, suspected to be the work of kidnappers, has left the community reeling in shock and fear.

According to a reliable source, the assailants struck Gwamnati’s family home on Friday, unleashing a hail of bullets that fatally wounded him. Despite being rushed to a hospital in Jos for urgent medical attention, Gwamnati succumbed to his injuries a few hours later, leaving behind a grieving family and a shattered community.

Kefas Mallai, Chairman of the Community Peace Observers in Bokkos, condemned the heinous attack, describing it as a brazen display of lawlessness and disregard for human life. Mallai confirmed the harrowing details of the incident, stating, “In the early hours of Friday, one Sule Gwamnati (native) was shot twice by some criminals who kidnapped his wife, Blessing Sule. The victim later died at JUTH after treatment started.”

The community, still grappling with the shock of the assault, has turned to local security forces and law enforcement agencies for answers and justice. Mallai revealed that the incident was promptly reported to security agents in Bokkos, who have assured the community that a thorough investigation is underway to apprehend the perpetrators and secure the safe return of Blessing Sule.

In response to inquiries, the Police spokesman, Alabo Alfred, affirmed that the Command is fully aware of the tragic incident. Alfred assured the public that the authorities are actively pursuing leads and collaborating with relevant stakeholders to bring the culprits to justice and restore peace to the embattled community.

The brazen attack in Mai Katato community underscores the persistent security challenges facing Plateau State and the urgent need for enhanced measures to protect innocent lives and property. Residents are increasingly concerned about the escalating violence and lawlessness in the region, calling for decisive action from the government and security agencies to stem the tide of criminal activities.

Plateau State, once known for its serene landscapes and vibrant culture, has been plagued by recurring incidents of violence, ranging from inter-communal clashes to banditry and kidnapping. Despite efforts by the government and security forces to restore stability, the lingering threat of insecurity continues to cast a shadow over the lives of ordinary citizens, who live in fear of becoming the next victims of senseless violence.

As investigations into the tragic incident unfold, residents of Bokkos and neighboring communities remain on edge, grappling with the trauma of the attack and the uncertainty of what the future holds. With each passing day, the need for lasting solutions to the security crisis becomes increasingly urgent, as innocent lives hang in the balance and communities mourn the loss of their loved ones.
