Chelsea and Manchester United Suffer Blow in Pursuit of Nigerian Defender David Odogu

Chelsea and Manchester United have been dealt a significant blow in their pursuit of Nigerian defender David Odogu, who has signed a new long-term deal with Wolfsburg. The 18-year-old central defender, who won the 2023 Fifa U17 World Cup with Germany, was a target for the Premier League giants after his impressive performance in the tournament.

Odogu, who has been likened to German football legend Franz Beckenbauer by Nigerian great Segun Odegbami, has been promoted to Wolfsburg’s first team on a full-time basis. He has made 55 appearances for Wolfsburg’s U17 and U19 teams and has been touted as one of the most sought-after players in Europe.

Chelsea reportedly held talks with Odogu’s camp over a transfer after the tournament in Indonesia, but Wolfsburg has now secured his long-term future. The move is a significant blow to Chelsea and Manchester United, who were both interested in signing the talented defender.

Odogu’s new deal with Wolfsburg is a testament to his impressive talent and potential. He has already been compared to one of the greatest German footballers of all time, and his future looks bright. The Nigerian defender will now focus on establishing himself in Wolfsburg’s first team and continuing to develop his skills.

The news will come as a disappointment to Chelsea and Manchester United, who were both hoping to sign Odogu. However, they will now have to look elsewhere to strengthen their defenses. The transfer window is still open, and both clubs will be searching for alternative targets to bolster their squads.
